Indians Football makes school history

by Nicholas Johnson

The Montgomery Central High School Football Team, the Indians, have gone further than they ever have before during last football season. After a streak of 10 wins and a single loss, the Indians made it to the second round of the playoffs, which took place on November 9th. Students and teachers alike were in amazement as a result of the Indians having never done this in the history the school. The last time that the football had gotten close to this streak was in 2014, but the Indians have never made it as far as they have this year. Head football coach Jeff Tomlinson stated that this season went great. They plan to build and carry on from this season, and though they might not make break any records, next year will be as much as a success as this year. Though the season ends here for the Indians, the football team and the rest of the school sees this as a major victory, and perhaps it will be an incentive to do even greater next year.

Indians Football qualifies for state playoffs

by Nicholas Johnson

The Montgomery Central High School Indians Football team have qualified for the playoffs. The Indians are going into the playoffs after an almost perfect season of eight wins and one loss. Head Coach Jeffrey Tomlinson stated that this season is a major improvement from last season, and one of the teams major strengths is their defense and strong running game. Coach Tomlinson says that player Jaden Flake has been a major help to the team, though he also mentioned that the team’s ability to cooperate and work as an effective group is one of the main reasons why the team has made it this far. With only a short amount of time until the end of this season, all coach Tomlinson had to comment on this matter was that they will take it “one game at a time”.

by Nicholas Johnson

On September 11, students involved with Future Farmers of America (FFA) at Montgomery Central High School competed at the Tennessee FFA State Horse Evaluation. The Tennessee Future Farmers of America Association hosted the event. This annual event promotes the study of and interest in equine science, selection, care and well-being, management and production through the agricultural education curriculum.  The gathering took place in the afternoon at Middle Tennessee state University in the Mary Miller arena. The horses were judged by conformation- or how the horse looks in terms of structure of the bones and muscle- and the movement of the horses. The MCHS team placed 29 out of 57 teams. The students from MCHS that attended the event were Devon Bowles, Gracie Carmon, Payton Redman, and Keli Stump.
